A pilot project for the summer camps of the Church of Rozdestvo started in 2006. At that time, there were only 10 participants, and we could not even imagine that this initiative would grow in such
proportions. Over the years, a huge number of children and young people have been able to relax, enjoy nature, improve their health and, most importantly, learn about God.
The initial goal of creating a children’s camp was to acquaint children with basic Christian principles and talk about who God is in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Every year 4 camps are organized with 220 to 250 people participating. The children have a unique
opportunity to take part in a variety of games, contests, quests, and seminars, which are prepared by a team of volunteers more than half a year in advance. Children, teens, and young adults make new
friends, learn to interact, help, and support each other. Many parents report positive changes in the behavior of their children upon returning from the camps. We are especially pleased with the examples of unbelieving parents coming to church and becoming members of the church after their children have
been at summer camp.
For 3 years, children and teens from near the war-torn regions of Donetsk and Luhansk have been
engaged in the camp.
An atmosphere of love and acceptance reigns in the camp, so it is not surprising that more than 50% of the children, having learned about God, repent, and come to teen and young adults meetings and after
a while become members of the Church of Rozdestvo.
